Commissioners for the Nevada Department of Wildlife adopted new hunting restrictions on Saturday, including making it illegal to use larger ammunition like the .50-caliber Browning Machine Gun round to hunt big game. The new rules, which still must be approved by a Nevada Legislature subcommittee before they take effect, require hunting ammunition to be .50 caliber, or a half inch in diameter, or less and have a case length of 3 inches or less. The .50 cal BMG case length is almost 4 inches or about the length of a dollar bill. The new law also prohibits hunting with a gun that uses a sight controlled by a computer or with an electronically controlled trigger.
