RPD Makes Arrest in Murder Case, Stolen Law Enforcement Weapons

An arrest has been made in a shooting that left a 31-year-old man dead. Reno Police say an investigation by detectives revealed that before the shooting, Patrick McDaniel, the man who was shot to death, had been in possession of various guns, ammunition, and explosive caps, stolen from a California law enforcement agency. Tuesday, February 6th, McDaniel and a friend took arsenal to 175 E. Grove Street as part of a sale of those items. While in the parking lot, 34-year-old Mike Kizer, a participant in the transaction, pulled a gun and shot McDaniel multiple times. Kizer left the scene in McDaniel’s car, which contained the merchandise. McDaniel’s car was located abandoned the following morning. Thursday detectives found Kizer at a business in Sparks and made the arrest. A search warrant Friday yielded the guns and explosive caps. Ammunition and other items stolen from the California law enforcement agency were also recovered by investigators.
