Reno Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing a U.S. Bank Branch

A Reno man pleaded guilty to robbing a U.S. Bank branch inside a Safeway on Mae Anne Avenue. Sentencing for 47-year-old Mathew Hovious is scheduled for June 4th.
According to court documents, Hovious admitted that last October 23rd, he approached a bank teller and said, “Sorry, I have to do this,” then proceeded to give the teller a note that read, “I have a gun and a friend outside. We will use it. Do not pursue. $50s, $20s, $10s only. No dye packs or Transponders. I will kill you.” Hovious faces the maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
