Almost Half of Baby Boomers Have Zero Saved Towards Retirement

(KOH) – Of the Baby Boomers who have saved money for retirement, only one in four is confident that their savings will last. Even worse, 43% haven’t saved a dime. Cathy Weatherford President of the Insured Retirement Institute urges people to see a financial adviser, to do the best you can with the options still available.

Weatherford says paying down credit-card debt is a good first step, but the most important step is saving. Experts generally recommend putting aside 10 to 20 percent of your monthly income toward retirement. The youngest Boomers are just 54, so there’s still some time yet to get a plan in place.
