Nevada Joins Lawsuit Against Opioid Manufacturer

Nevada joined five other states, filing lawsuits, or expecting to file suits, accusing a pharmaceutical company of using deceptive marketing to boost drug sales, fueling opioid overdose deaths. Attorney General Adam Laxalt alleges in a civil suit, Purdue Pharma minimized risks and overstated benefits of long-term use of narcotic opioids including OxyContin. Similar lawsuits are expected in Florida, North Carolina, North Dakota, Tennessee and Texas. Perdue denies the claims and will defend itself against the suits. Laxalt says Perdues deception lined the pockets of its owners, and led to the deaths and hospitalization of thousands of Nevadans.
