Congresswoman Rosen’s amendment  requires the Secretaries of Defense and Energy to submit a report to the congressional defense committees on the impact that the Yucca Mountain Project may have on DOD/DOE operations at the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), and any other defense facilities in proximity to Yucca Mountain or the proposed nuclear waste transportation routes.  In October 2017, Rosen, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, sent a letter to House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry and Ranking Member Adam Smith explaining that designating Yucca Mountain as our nation’s nuclear waste repository could prevent Nellis Air Force Base and the Nevada Test and Training Range from completing core missions.
