Crews Fighting Wildfire in Carson City’s Voltaire Canyon

Fire crews are fighting a fire in Carson City’s Voltaire Canyon area. Voluntary evacuations are requested for residents of the Clearview Street area. The Indian Colony is also conducting voluntary evacuations on Curry and Rhodes Streets. Multiple agencies on scene, Command is unified between the US Forest Service and Carson City Fire. The US Forest Service says aircraft have been ordered for today, as have more hand crews. The fire has grown to over 100 acres and is 5-percent contained. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports that campers using fire to clean up their site are to blame. Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon says no structures are directly threatened. It’s currently burning into a burn scar from a fire last year.
