In Eldorado County Nolen Keith Buchanan has been convicted of three counts of murder with enhancements. In 2015 Buchanan killed his father, stepmother, and eight year old brother, then set their vacation cabin in Greewood on fire. Then he raced home to Benicia, in the Bay area, and tricked almost everyone into believing he was surprised by the news. At trial he tried to blame the killings on his dead father, making claims prosecutors proved were “forensically impossible.” Prosecutors say everything from the killings, to the attempt to establish an alibi were premeditated by the then 16 year old.
