Crews are battling a 1,180 acre brush fire that has prompted the evacuation of 50 homes in the Smith Valley area and has closed Upper Colony Road. Smith Valley Fire, BLM, East Fork Fire, Mason Valley Fire, Antelope Valley Fire are on scene. A Sierra Front Type 3 team is now leading fire fighting efforts. Lyon County Search and Rescue was called to assist with evacuations, and is on stand by should more evacuations be ordered. According to Lyon County Manager Jeff Page, no homes have been lost in the Upper Colony Road Fire, and no injuries are reported.
