Officials With East Fork Fire Protection District Say They Have Stopped Forward Progress of The James Fire

Firefighters with the East Fork Fire Protection District in Douglas County say they have stopped progress of the James fire in the James Canyon area, north of Genoa. The fire is being held to about 260 acres, and is currently 30-percent contained. Officials say the fire appears to have started with heavy construction equipment at the site of a new house. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says Jacks Valley Road is back open in the fire area, and residents who had been asked to voluntarily evacuate are back home. Firefighters say about 30 structures were threatened, none were damaged. No injuries were reported.
