The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District wants citizens to be mindful of the continued threat of wildfires during these hot, dry, and windy days. The fire threat remains high, and the Truckee Meadows is anticipating a number of Red Flag days. This week’s weather forecast calls for lightning strikes Wednesday through Friday. If you hear thunder, you are within striking distance of lightning. Look for shelter inside a home, large building, or a hard-topped vehicle right away. Do not go under trees for shelter. There is no place outside that is safe during a thunder and lightning storm.
