Suspected Car Thief Killed After Threatening California Family

A suspected car thief who threatened a family with a beer bottle, and tried to drive away in their truck, is dead in Janesville. Monday, CHP in Susanville got reports of a reckless driver in a truck in the Honey Lake area. That led to a chase at speeds of 105 MPH. The driver crashed and got away. Later officers where called to a home near the crash, where they found the man dead in another truck. He had confronted a family, demanding their keys. A woman got the keys for him, and a handgun for another man in the house. He pointed the gun at the suspect, who ran from the house to the truck, then tried to run down the resident, but didn’t make it out of the driveway. He shot him.
