Reno Fire Department crews knocked down a brush fire in a field along South Virginia Street between Tamarack Junction and the Summit mall Wednesday morning. Fire crews say the fire was power line-related, but no specific cause has been determined. Power was out to about 200 NV Energy customers for a short time. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

Truckee Meadows Fire Crews knocked out a small fire in Sun Valley at Hazard Way and Sidehill Drive Wednesday afternoon. It was started by a garbage truck making contact with a power line. No injuries are reported.

Reno Fire investigators say a driver possibly dragging metal led to a brush fire that burned about half an acre in northwest Reno Wednesday afternoon. Flames were reported about 3 o’clock  along Mae Anne Avenue at I-80, just west of Robb Drive. A fence was damaged by flames, but no other structures are damaged. A nearby construction crew put water on the fire before fire crews arrived. It burned in cheat grass and sagebrush.
