Passenger Killed in Plane Crash Near Truckee Identified

The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of a passenger killed in the crash of a small plane near Truckee Tuesday morning. 55-year-old Peter Jackson of West Hollywood, California died of multiple blunt force injuries. The pilot, who also died, was 60-year-old Kenneth Whittall-Scherfee of Carmichael, California. He also owned the plane. One other person is critically hurt. The three were the only people on board. The single-engine plane crashed on the west side of Highway 267 near Mercer Flats and the Northstar golf course shortly before 7:40 a.m. July 17.
