Trial Over The Little Valley Fire Begins

The trial over a prescribed burn started by the Nevada Division of Forestry, that got out of control is underway. The Little Valley Fire destroyed 23 homes along Franktown road, causing an estimated $80 million in property damage. The lawsuit was filed by property owners and insurers who suffered losses in the fire which burned for five days in October 2016.  Plaintiffs accuse state officials of failing to adequately monitor the fire despite high winds and not responding quickly enough. The suit is against NDF and the University of Nevada, the fire was set on University property.
