Federal Plan Would Ship Weapons-Grade Plutonium to Nevada

A plan to ship weapons-grade plutonium from South Carolina to a facility about 100 miles from Las Vegas, has Gov. Brian Sandoval pledging to “Fight at every level.” According to the feds the plutonium would be “temporarily staged” at the Nevada National Security Site and at the Pantex Plant for weapons assembly and disassembly in Texas, for eventual shipment to Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico or another facility. Senator Dean Heller says this is unreasonable and unnecessary.
