Why People Are Wearing Orange Thursday

Food Bank of Northern Nevada joins Feeding America, the nationwide network of food banks, during Hunger Action Month. It’s designed to inspire people to take action and raise awareness of the fact that 41 million Americans, including 13 million children, are food-insecure, according to the USDA. In northern Nevada, more than 89,100 people struggle with hunger and may not know where they’ll find their next meal. Today is Hunger Action Day, supporters can wear orange and let people know it is to raise awareness of the fact that one in five children in our area is food-insecure.
