Washoe County Commission Okays Arrowcreek School Special Use Permit

The Washoe County Commission voted unanimously approve a special use permit for site work on the future new middle school in the Arrowcreek area. The Washoe County School District is going through the final stages of acquiring this land from the U.S. Forest Service. WCSD put in this permit in advance of full title transfer to be able to move quickly on building the school as soon as USFS transfers the land. This school was a specific part of WCSD’s identified projects on the WC-1 ballot in 2016. Board of Trustees President Katy Simon Holland says they’re grateful to all of the community members who made their voices heard on this issue, and to the Washoe County Commissioners for their unanimous vote that supports our ability to open a new middle school in Arrowcreek. The goal is to open in 2020.
