The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit, recovered a body Monday from a depth of one thousand sixty-two feet in Lake Tahoe. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body is that of 33-year-old Chaitanya Datla of Cameron Park, California. Datla disappeared a week earlier after jumping into Lake Tahoe without a life jacket. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office says this search and recovery effort was unprecedented in Lake Tahoe because of extreme depths and technology needed to facilitate this type of recovery. The technology, an underwater remote operated vehicle, was recently donated to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office by a resident.
