A hiker found a human skull Sunday in a near the town of Truckee and Highway 89. Placer County Sheriff detectives say the skull appeared to have been exposed to the elements for a long time. A second, larger search of the area by detectives and Search & Rescue personnel revealed several additional bone fragments. A weathered and apparently old campsite was located near the remains. Although both the remains and the campsite appear to both have been exposed to the elements for a lengthy period of time, detectives and coroner investigators are still working to establish a connection between the two.
