Some Fire Restrictions Being Lifted Starting Today

The Bureau of Land Management Carson City District Office, Fish & Wildlife Service, and Bureau of Indian Affairs are lifting fire restrictions that have been in place since June 27th, beginning today. Decreased daily sunlight, increasing fuel moisture levels, and cooler evening temperatures now allow for careful use of fire, with limitations. It’s still illegal to use incendiary or tracer rounds while target shooting. Spark arrestor requirements on motorcycles, ATVs, and power equipment, like chainsaws, remain in effect. Propane stoves versus campfires and charcoal grill fires are preferred, and recommended in dry conditions. If you want to open burn on private land, you can do that after getting a permit from your local fire department.
