An explosion leveled a vacant home in Floriston on Wednesday and the blast was powerful enough to damage windows on a dozen nearby homes. No one was in the home and there were no injuries from the explosion reported around 3:30 p.m. in a small subdivision off Interstate 80. About a dozen to 16 homes are without power in the Floriston area. Power could be out for 24 to 36 hours. The explosion’s cause is still under investigation but it appears to be a gas leak.
