Traffic Stop in Carson City Leads to Large Drug Bust

The Tri-County Gang Unit made a big drug bust Friday. It began with a routine traffic stop shortly before 6pm in Carson City. During the stop, a K-9 “sniff” alerted officers to the presence of drugs. A search followed revealed over 30 grams of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. 32 year old Gregory Kelly Jr was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to obey a traffic signal. A subsequent search of Kelly’s home led officers to a stolen .45 pistol, $1,400 in cash, meth paraphernalia, 310 grams of meth, and more drug related items. Additional charges are Trafficking a Controlled Substance, Possession of Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by Ex-Felon, Possession of Controlled Substance for Sale, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
