Barton Nurses Threaten Strike, Say Hospital Plans Retaliation

Registered nurses at Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe, California are preparing to hold a one-day strike on February 15th, over staffing and patient care issues. The California Nurses Association says ahead of the strike, Barton management has made it clear it intends to punish the nurses by locking them out for four days following the strike. Nurses say it is particularly disturbing that Barton would lock out its own nurses, causing unnecessary hardship, when the hospital has put a quarter of its nurses in collections for care they received at the hospital. The nurses have been in negotiations with hospital management since March of 2018.
