Investigation Into Tahoe City Shooting Continues, No Danger to The Public

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says no one has been arrested, but the public is not in danger after a double shooting that left a Sparks man dead Saturday evening in Tahoe City. Officials say they’re not releasing further information yet, as it might compromise the investigation. 33-year-old Octavio Villa Villanueva of Sparks was shot in the Boatworks Mall parking lot and died at a nearby hospital. The second victim has been released from the hospital after being treated for an arm wound. It happened shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday at the mall on North Lake Blvd. Deputies say the victims, both men, were shot while they were in a car.
