Nevada Governor Requesting Meeting With The President Over Plutonium Shipment

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak has sent a letter to President Trump requesting a meeting. The Governor wants to discuss the recent U.S. Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration shipment of half a metric ton of weapon-grade plutonium to Nevada, as well as the proposed Yucca Mountain nuclear waste site. Last weekend, Gov. Sisolak declined to attend events for all 50 governors at the White House and the vice president’s residence, due to the federal government’s decision to secretly ship weapons-grade plutonium to Nevada sometime in 2018 without notifying the previous governor. In response, the White House said it was “open to discussions with the governor on this topic.”
