AP Report: Martinez-Guzman Killed For Methamphetamine

The suspected motive for Wilbur Martinez Guzman’s wave of robbery and murder in Gardnerville and South Reno was the need for money to buy drugs, specifically methamphetamine, according to a Grand Jury transcript obtained by the Associated Press. Reno Detective Stefanie Brady testified Martinez Guzman referred to himself as an “Idiot,” who after initially giggling thru questioning and denying the crimes, finally admitted he killed the four victims because of drugs. He has pleaded NOT guilty and is set for trial in April 2020. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, but say the fact that Martinez Guzman is an illegal alien is not part of that decision.
