Washoe County Regional Parks & Open Space is hosting a party to celebrate the grand opening of their new recreation facility in Spanish Springs. “The Hive” in Lazy Five Park used to house sand and salt for the roadway, but it’s been converted into a 5000 square foot hub for games and events. Park Ranger Sara Snow talks about what’s inside.

The grand opening party is this Saturday from 11am until 2pm, and features live music, pickleball, skateboard and karate demos, a public basketball shootout game, food truck, mobile pub and fun activities for the kids. Lazy 5 Regional Park is at 7100 Pyramid Highway in Sparks.
