Washoe County Manager John Slaughter will retire effective June 14. The Washoe County Commission appointed Slaughter as manager in November 2013. He started working for Washoe County in 1986, as a land use planner, strategic planning manager and director of management services. He also represented Washoe County at the Nevada Legislature from 2001 to 2013. Slaughter says after 32 years he realized time spent with family is “not infinite.”
