Reno Crews Respond to Fire, Homeless Camp May be to Blame

A fire in northeast Reno yesterday evening spread from a ditch to a field before Reno Fire Department crews knocked it down. The fire was in a field behind Tripp Drive south of Hug High School and was reported just after 6pm. The Reno Fire Department says it started along the Orr Ditch and spread into a field. About 20 fire personnel responded and firefighters were able to attack the fire from several sides before it threatened apartments. No homes were lost. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and it may be related to a homeless camp in the area.
