Hazmat Investigation Closes Portion of Kietzke Lane

The Reno Fire Department identified the chemical that prompted a hazmat investigation, closing down a portion of Kietzke Lane near Mill Street Thursday, starting about noon. The fire department says workers were in a drain pipe when they started to feel nauseous. They were reportedly exposed to ethylene oxide, a colorless gas with a sweet ether-like odor. Kietzke between Mill and Automotive Way was closed for about two hours.
