The Body of a Missing Boater Found Near Lake Tahoe’s North Shore

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says a boater who had been missing since Saturday evening near Lake Tahoe’s north shore has been found dead. A rental boat with 13 people was pulling a tube with two people on it, when the two went into the water around 5:10 p.m. near Dollar Point Pier. The sheriff’s office says the boat operator, 27-year-old Sayen Sengupta, of Boston, Massachusetts dove into the water to assist the riders. He was last seen swimming towards them when he slipped underwater. He did not resurface. The search took place with help from the Washoe and Douglas county sheriff’s offices and the U.S. Coast Guard.
