Containment on The Walker Fire Now Over 30 Percent

Nearly 19 hundred firefighters continue to battle the Walker Fire in Plumas County. It’s burned an estimated 49,272 acres in the Plumas National Forest. Containment is currently at 32%. Much of the activity focused on strengthening lines to control the fire. That included mopping up hot spots inside the burn area and burning out pockets of fuel. The weather reduced fire activity. The fire started around midnight Wednesday, east of Genesee at Indian Creek and Beckwourth-Genesee Road. No structures have been lost, the Forest Service reported.
