Douglas County Rejects Slaughterhouse Over Flood Plain Concerns

The Gardnerville Record Courier says a slaughterhouse that was proposed in Centerville was shot down by Douglas County commissioners this week. The primary issues for the pushback were it’s location in a flood plain and the septic system. An overflow crowd of about 400 people turned out at the meeting to voice their opposition, and was one of the most attended public meetings in Douglas County history.
