Convicted Arsonist Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

An Arson prosecution has resulted in a defendant being sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay over $75,000 in restitution. 31 year old Cody Abraham Cahill, from Reno, pleaded guilty in October to one count of 1st Degree Arson and was sentenced late last week to the 10-year term, with parole eligibility beginning after a minimum of 3 years has been served. Judge Connie Steinheimer ordered restitution of $74,136 to the victims in the case for damages caused by the fire and $1,839 to the Reno Fire Department (RFD) for suppression and investigation costs. Cahill admitted causing two fires in August 2019 when the at an apartment complex on Longley Lane. Cahill had been served with an eviction notice just prior to the incident.
