The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says one person is dead after an officer-involved shooting near Cardon and Willhoyt Lane in Yerington yesterday afternoon. Officials say it happened just before 2pm. They say it started when a man allegedly threatened his neighbor with a gun. When deputies arrived, they instructed the man to drop the weapon and put his hands up, but the suspect did not obey and instead advanced on the deputies. They said the man pulled out a hand gun, and that’s when deputies fired at him. Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the Nevada Division of Investigation is taking over the investigation, along with the help of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
