Reno Homeowners Upset over Potential Rock Crushing Facility

(RENO, Nev.) -- A new rock crushing and compost recycling facility proposed by the Reno Planning Commission has nearby homeowners ready to fight.

As reported by The Reno Gazette-Journal, C4 Equity LLC was given special permission to build the facility only 80 feet behind several north Reno backyards.

The project was approved in a 6-1 vote last month, prompting homeowners to file around a dozen appeals and hire an attorney.

“I like small businesses, I like recycling, but this operation just doesn’t fit in a residential area,” said Tom Bell, president of the Home Owners Association. “I’m going to push for the association to make a stand against any kind of industrial operation on that property.”

C4 Equity says that the facility is not that big, and will be subject to noise restrictions.

“This project is not a truck stop; it’s not going to be a hub,” said Troy Carson, representing the company at a meeting last month. “What it is, is a family-owned business.”
