Lawmakers Hope to Restore The Solar Industry in Nevada

Nevada came a step closer to restoring its rooftop solar industry, as the state Senate voted 21-0 to approve legislation that would change rules dating to 2015 that made homeowner investments in clean energy unaffordable. The bill, Assembly Bill 405, would make rooftop solar investments affordable for homeowners once again. The home-solar industry virtually disappeared in Nevada after regulatory changes reduced credits and increased costs for these clean energy systems. Nevada lost more than 2,500 solar installation jobs virtually overnight. Shane Perkins, co-owner and co-founder of “Legend Solar,” says “Now, new rooftop solar customers will be able to economically create their own clean energy and help save the environment, and thousands of solar jobs will return to Nevada.” The bill moves to Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval for his signature.
