A brush fire, now estimated at 1,500 acres, was reported near Winnemucca Ranch road off Pyramid Highway north of Spanish Springs around 7pm last night. Sierra Front is reporting 25-30 structures are threatened and it’s possible that number will increase to up to 200 structures threatened soon. Truckee Meadows Fire, BLM and Nevada Division of Forestry are responding. Washoe County is asking residents and livestock affected by the fire to self-evacuate to the Equestrian Center at 5600 Whiskey Springs Road. No word yet as to how this blaze was started, we’ll have more details as they become available.
