In February, Rick Worthington’s wife Kristen found out she had breast cancer, and shortly after her 43rd birthday, the primary tumor was removed. The second shock came in May, when their son 13-year-old Nicholas – was diagnosed with rare aggressive form of cancer. Rhabdomyosarcoma affects only 200 to 300 people a year. Worthington who is now news director for KBOI in Boise, says both his wife and son are undergoing chemotherapy, sometimes on the same day, as you can imagine it’s a challenge for a family of six. Worthington says Boise has rallied around the family, helping with household tasks, bringing meals, etc. The family has a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical expenses, and has received more than $27,000 so far. The website is gofundme.com/WorthingtonFamilyHealingFund.
