American Cancer Society Praising The Passage of SB 159

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and its volunteer advocates, most of them cancer patients and survivors, are pleased SB 159 was passed unanimously by the Assembly and is now headed to the governor’s desk. Tom McCoy, Nevada government relations director for the Cancer Action Network says the bill authorizes the use of sunscreen and wearing of sun protective clothing during the school day and at school activities such as sports. Those protections are critically important because Nevada’s incidences of skin cancer and melanoma have been increasing dramatically in recent years.
