The driver of a petroleum tanker truck was killed after a fiery collision and explosion in South Lake Tahoe. The wreck happened about 11:45am Saturday on Highway 50 near Elks Club Dr. The fatality was on the bridge where Highway 50 crosses the Upper Truckee River. An unknown amount of the petroleum leaked into the Upper Truckee River, prompting a response from Hazmat. Another driver was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe suffering major injuries.
