The Reno Police Department has become aware of a real estate scam, in which residents in escrow are being deceived into sending money to fraudulent companies, by way of spoof email accounts. Use caution when replying and complying with instructions provided by email accounts. Look closely at the email account name, its characters and domain name, to avoid being a victim of fraudulent activity. Also, confirm the instructions via telephone from the contact information from your real estate company, and contact your bank.
