The wrong way accident that killed one person Saturday morning on Westbound 80 near the Sparks Marina was the result of fleeing robbery suspects. According to Sparks PD, officers were responding to a robbery near Oddie and Rock Blvd about 6:30 Saturday morning when they encountered a male and female suspect, both armed and robbing a victim of his wallet. Another male suspect arrived to assist the first male in fleeing the scene in a pick-up truck. Sparks PD pursued the vehicle but were unsuccessful in stopping it. That truck fled eastbound on westbound 80 at high speeds where it struck a Jeep head-on. The driver of the Jeep was killed and the 2 male suspects were apprehended and taken into custody. The female suspect at the scene of the robbery has also been arrested.
