Judge Rejects Bid to Block Mail-in Primary in Nevada

A Reno federal judge has again rejected a bid to block the mail-in primary election, as part of an effort to guard against spread of the coronavirus at traditional polling places.
U.S. District Judge Miranda Du says the Voters’ Rights Initiative’s “second proverbial bite at the apple is no more fruitful than the first.” Early voting for the primary started May 23rd and ballots have gone out statewide for the mail in primary. Tens of thousands have already been returned. The judge says “Nevada’s interests in protecting the health and safety of voters and to safeguard the voting franchise are compelling.”
