The Reno Fire Department investigated what was believed to be a possible hazmat situation last night at a midtown apartment complex. Emergency crews responded to 340 Cheney Street around 9:30 p.m. after someone reported a strong chemical odor coming from somewhere in the building. Several residents had to be evacuated while emergency crews investigate the origin of the odor. It’s believed the chemical was actually pepper spray. Roads in the area have reopened.
