Bill to Abolish The Death Penalty Passes The State Assembly

A bill to abolish Nevada’s death penalty has passed the state assembly. The measure would change the sentences of those inmates on death row to life without the possibility of parole. ACLU of Nevada Policy Director Holly Welborn calls it an historic moment bringing Nevada a step closer to ending a barbaric practice. Many Republicans oppose the bill, noting some of the more notorious murders that have happened in the state, arguing that the worst of the worst should face capital punishment for their gruesome crimes.
