Nevada Governor Sets June 1 Reopening Goal

Nevada’s Governor expects every county in the state to be able to fully reopen at 100% capacity by June 1st. He also still expects to turn over mitigation efforts to the counties on May 1st. Governor Steve Sisolak says 40% of Nevadans over the age of 16 have started the vaccination process, and about 25% are fully vaccinated.

Sisolak says some counties may decide to move to 100% capacity as early as May 1 when they gain the authority, others may not. He says each county in Nevada and each school district is unique. He says the accelerated timeline will require Nevadans to continue to get vaccinated and continue wearing masks. The statewide mask mandate will remain in place through the transition.
As of Tuesday, the state’s COVID-19 positivity rate was 5.2% over a 14-day period.
