The California Highway Patrol has announced that State Route 89 and State Route 4 in Alpine County are reopening Wednesday. The highways have been closed due to the Tamarack Fire. Drivers can use the highways for thru-traffic, but you will not be able to access U.S. Forest Service lands. Authorities say there are still firefighters working in the area and utility companies are repairing lines destroyed by the fire.
