Evacuations Lifted in Hill Fire Burning Near Verdi

UPDATE: Authorities on the scene of the blaze say all evacuations have been lifted.

(Reno, NV) — Several agencies are on the scene of the Hill Fire burning near Verdi Wednesday morning. The fire was said to have begun around 11:00pm Tuesday. First reports indicated the blaze burned about 25 acres, but that quickly jumped to 42 acres. Evacuations were ordered on Hill Road to Bridge Street to Dog Valley Road. Fire crews at the scene report heavy brush and cheat grass. Windy conditions are hampering firefighter efforts, but steady progress was said to have been made by crews battling the blaze.
